Join an Emergency Practice That Still Feels Like a Team.

Pet Emergency Center is independently owned, locally operated, and built around the kind of culture that has gotten harder to find in veterinary medicine. If that sounds like the practice you have been looking for, we want to hear from you.

What kind of practice are we?

Here Is What Makes Pet Emergency Center Different.

Most emergency veterinary practices in South Florida are now part of corporate networks. They have standardized protocols, performance metrics tied to revenue, and staffing decisions made by people who do not work the floor. We are not that.

Pet Emergency Center has been independently owned for over 40 years. Today, we are owned and operated by Dr. Seth Kiser and Paige Obrig, both of whom are present in the practice and involved in its decisions. Our team is small. People know each other. Communication happens directly, not through layers of management.

No corporate playbook. No quarterly metrics. Just emergency medicine, practiced the way it should be.
Team culture

What It Is Like to Work Here.

Real Autonomy in Clinical Decision-Making

Our veterinarians and technicians are trusted to use their judgment. We do not have a corporate playbook telling you what to recommend. Treatment plans are designed around the patient and the family in front of you, not around revenue targets.

Compassion as a Standard, Not a Slogan

Our team genuinely cares. About the patients, about the families, and about each other. That is not a recruiting line. That is the actual culture, and it shapes how we hire.

Small Team. Real Working Relationships.

Our shifts are small by design, typically a doctor and one or two technicians. That means every team member matters and every contribution is visible. It also means we lean on each other, and that interdependence builds the kind of working relationships that make the hard nights bearable.

Calm Under Pressure

Emergency medicine is demanding. We do not pretend otherwise. What we have built is a team that stays steady when the room is not. New team members are trained by people who have done the work, not by a manual.

Honest Communication

When something is not working, we talk about it. When someone is struggling, we check in. When something is going well, we name it. Our culture is direct, kind, and honest. Drama-free is not just an aspiration; it is a hiring filter.

Who we are looking for

Who Thrives at Pet Emergency Center.

The work we do is not for everyone, and that is okay. The people who do well here have a few things in common.

  • They genuinely love animals and care about families.
  • They can stay calm when the floor gets chaotic.
  • They take ownership without needing to be managed.
  • They communicate honestly, even when it is uncomfortable.
  • They are curious about medicine and willing to keep learning.
  • They want to be part of something independent, not part of a corporate machine.

If that sounds like you, we want to talk.

Specific openings vary. Even if a role is not currently posted, we welcome resumes from veterinary professionals who want to be part of an independent practice.

Licensed veterinarians experienced in emergency medicine, willing to work weeknights, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Surgical experience is a strong plus. Independence and clinical confidence are essential.

Veterinary Technicians

Licensed or experienced veterinary technicians comfortable with the pace of emergency medicine. Ability to handle multiple critical cases simultaneously, strong communication, and a calm presence under pressure.
